Ruth Rose Baumgartner

March 13, 1924 – January 23, 2021

On January 23,2021, Ruth Rose Baumgartner was called to her heavenly home after 96 years of service on Earth.  She was welcomed by her parents, Martha and William Baumgartner, her beloved sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and George Wilkinson, and many loving family members and friends from years gone by.  She leaves behind her niece Mary Ellen (Gene) Silverman, great nieces Sonya (Robert) Morgan, Joanna (Sam) Weinhold, Miriam Jacobs, and her great nephew Gabriel (Theresa) Jacobs, as well as great-great nephews and nieces, and numerous cousins who she valued and remained close to throughout her life.

Her life ended where it began, in the house that she loved. She took the train downtown to the city every day for work, to the company where she was employed for 40 years. She cared for her parents at home until they passed and was a major caregiver to her sister Evelyn when she became ill. Ruth was very devoted to her church, and was the Superintendent of the Religious School for over 30 years.

Throughout her life, Ruth was surrounded by friends who loved her, and many considered her to be a special part of their families. She enjoyed visiting friends and attending social events. She also loved her family and looked forward to the time she would spend with them. And second to her devotion to her church, was her devotion to her Chicago Cubs. Up until her last day, she could name and discuss every Cub player, including recent trades, and their managers, and she did not miss a single televised game. She was happy to have lived long enough to see them win the World Series in 2016.

She was an exceptional Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and dear friend to many, and she will be deeply missed. A Memorial Service is being planned and will be held at Faith Community United Church for Christ in Bensenville at a later date.

Thank you Jim Geils

To all the families that have supported my father, Jim, throughout his 45 years as a funeral director, I hope you will continue to let me serve you moving forward.

Filling my father’s shoes, will not be an easy task and something I will forever strive for; however, he has given me the knowledge, guidance, experience and lasting relationships within the funeral industry that will hopefully make this transition possible.

He was my confidant, superior but mostly my biggest fan. I know he will be with me always, leading and guiding me to be the best funeral director I can be.

I will continue my father’s legacy as best and for as long as I can, with your love, help and support.

Sincerely,
Monica Geils Conroy
