Robert F. Sullivan was born in Elmhurst Illinois on August 8, 1932 and passed away on November 4, 2021 Elk Grove Village IL.
During his high school years, Bob had many part time jobs which included being a paper boy and working at Dunteman Green House, Runge’s Gas Station, and pinsetter at the Bensenville Bowling Alley. In December of 1952 he was on his way to Fort Sheridan for his induction into the Army, after bootcamp in Indiana, was sent to Seattle and assigned to the USS Gaffey for his way to Korea for two years.
After his return he went back to work at the Milwaukee Railroad in Bensenville and was there for 44 years until his retirement.
In September of 1962 he met Marlyn Kay Bachelor while bowling at the Bensenville Bowling Alley. Soon they married and had two children: Kristine (Bill) and the late James. He was the greatest grandpa to three Grandchildren: Robert (Amanda), James and Kayla; and 5 Great-Grand Children. As well as Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Mathilda and his brother William.
In 1994, he and Marlyn moved to Florida for 25 years to enjoy their retirement. They traveled to all 50 states, Europe and many cruises to distant places. Much later in their senior years they moved back to Illinois to be near family and friends.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, working outdoors and long road trips. He has been a VFW member since returning from Korea.
He was a great father who often sacrificed his needs for the good of his family.
Visitation will be held, Tuesday November 9, 2021, from 10 AM until time of Funeral Service, 12 PM at Faith Community United Church of Christ, 192 S. Center Street, Bensenville, IL. Interment Frieden’s Cemetery, Bensenville IL.
