Luella (nee Keane) Krass, age 88 of Bensenville. Beloved wife for 62 years of the late Joseph W. Krass. Loving mother of Gayle (David) Carzoli and Jodi (David) Leonard. Proud Nana of David, Nicolas, Ryan and Andrew. Dear sister of Pat (nee Keane) Foersterling. Sister-in-law to Dolores (nee Krass) Neveu. Devoted daughter of the late Grace(nee Kueter) and Joseph Patrick Keane. Dear aunt to many.
Lu was born in Elmhurst, on February 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Grace (nee Kueter) and Joseph Patrick Keane. She graduated from York Community High School in 1946. Lu attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri and earned her Associates in Arts Degree.
Lu had a passion for music and singing her entire life. She performed in the York Community H.S. choir and continued her love for singing as a member of the William Woods College Glee Club. In 1964 Lu was recognized for her volunteer work with the American Red Cross as an entertainment volunteer. She volunteered over 300 hours at both Hines VA Hospital and Great Lakes Naval Hospital from 1957-1964. Lu was very active in the Elmhurst Junior Women’s Club and a member of the EJWC Choral group. She also was a member of the First Congregational Church choir for over 60 years and participated in the annual Choir Capers musical performance.
Lu was a dedicated wife, loving mother and doting Nana. Her selflessness, generosity and thoughtfulness were demonstrated through her countless acts of volunteering and caring for others.
Her love for Lauderdale Lakes started as a child as she spent summers boating swimming and water-skiing with family and friends. That love and tradition continued into her adulthood as she shared the same opportunities with her children and their friends, grandchildren and extended family.
The family would like to extend a most grateful thanks to her caregivers Khatlyn and Kris for their loving and devoted care. Thank you to Journey Care for all their support during her illness.
Lying in State June 25, 2019 from 9 AM until time of Funeral Service 10AM at First Congregational Church of Elmhurst , 235 Kenilworth Ave. Elmhurst, IL. Interment Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst IL. Visitation June 24, 2019 from 4-8 PM at First Congregational Church of Elmhurst, Elmhurst IL.
