Pauline Shirley Florina was born June 12, 1936 and passed away January 2, 2022. She was born in Johnstown, PA to George and Mary Maksim. She graduated from Ferndale High School in 1954. She married John C. Florina Sr. in 1956 and moved to Chicago, IL. She was a long time resident of Wood Dale and Bensenville, and more recently moved to Elk Grove Village, IL.
Beloved mother of John C. (Barbara) Florina Jr., Marie (David) McCloud, Margaret (Scott) Stevens, Robert (Dina) Florina and Patricia (David) Shimanek. Proud grandmother of Daniel (Kristina) Florina, Elizabeth (Nicholas) Taylor, Katherine (Casey) Tiesman, Natalie Stevens, Alisha Stevens, Joshua Stevens, Joseph Florina, Danielle Florina, Samantha Shimanek, Jeremy Shimanek and Jacob Shimanek. Great grandmother of Henry Taylor, Charles Taylor, Louis Taylor, Luka Florina, Mila Florina and Baron Tiesman.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Florina, Sr; parents, George and Mary Maksim; brothers and sisters, Mary Wright, John Maksim, Ann Jones, George Maksim and Michael Maksim
Pauline was a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved to cook, read and play bingo .She loved all sports, but football was her passion. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan and never missed a game (but truly a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan). She was of Czechoslavakian descent and loved the food, culture and traditions of her family’s homeland. She was a very caring and loving person and generous to all she knew. She will be forever missed and loved.
Visitation for Pauline will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 from 5 until 8 PM at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village IL and then on Saturday January 8, 2022 from 9AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 254 N Wood Dale Road, Wood Dale IL. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton IL. Pauline’s family requests that all who attend wear masks.
