When A Death Occurs

When a death occurs, there are certain things that need to be done and this process depends greatly on where the death happened. We encourage you to contact us immediately at the number above for the help and professional advice you need through this difficult time. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, J Geils Funeral Home is here to help you step-by-step through this process. We’re always available to address any of your immediate questions and concerns.

When a Death Occurs at Home

If a death happens at home, and the deceased was under a physician’s care, it’s up to a family member to immediately call us directly at (630) 247-6623.

If a death happens at home and it is accidental or unexpected, it’s crucial that you also call 911 before the loved one is moved out of the home.

When a Death Occurs in Supervised Care

In situations where your loved one was in supervised care, such as a nursing home or hospital at the time of death, their staff will immediately notify you and the authorities. If you’ve let the facility know you’ll be working with J Geils Funeral Home, they will also notify us and one of our funeral directors will contact you immediately to help you proceed.

For cases where a loved one was in a hospice program’s care, your first call should be to them where a representative will provide you with the instructions and procedures for moving forward. A coroner or medical examiner may also be notified by the hospice program. After release from the hospice’s care, they will contact us if you have listed J Geils Funeral Home as your funeral home of choice.

Every step of the way, we provide compassionate guidance after the death of a loved one. Please contact us today at (630) 247-6623 for immediate assistance and answers to your questions.

Thank you Jim Geils

To all the families that have supported my father, Jim, throughout his 45 years as a funeral director, I hope you will continue to let me serve you moving forward.

Filling my father’s shoes, will not be an easy task and something I will forever strive for; however, he has given me the knowledge, guidance, experience and lasting relationships within the funeral industry that will hopefully make this transition possible.

He was my confidant, superior but mostly my biggest fan. I know he will be with me always, leading and guiding me to be the best funeral director I can be.

I will continue my father’s legacy as best and for as long as I can, with your love, help and support.

Sincerely,
Monica Geils Conroy
